Branch Members at the South London AGM 2011
UNISON Housing Associations Branch has around 3500 members working in social housing in the Greater London Area. Our members work for over 180 employers. We have 11 workplaces with over 100 members, and many other workplaces with smaller groups of members. We organise and represent all staff, whatever post they hold. We recruit in every group of workers; Support Workers, Team Leaders, Housing Officers, Cleaners, Housing Managers. UNISON recruits temporary and agency workers. Sixty per cent of branch members are women. We have over 150 elected local representatives.
The branch is run by the branch committee and supported by skilled staff, locally, regionally and nationally. The committee meets monthly, if you have an item you would like put on the agenda talk to your steward or call the branch office.
All members of the Housing Associations Branch can attend branch meetings, vote and stand in branch elections and are encouraged to become involved in our campaigns and activities.
The branch rolling annual general meeting takes place in February. Elections for committee members and conference delegates take place at these meetings.
We are always looking for people who feel they can contribute to the branch and to helping other members. This could be a regular commitment or just the occasional hour or so. We provide training courses for our reps and officers. Contact the branch office if you would like to find out more.

The branch signs up to UNISON's million voices for change campaign. Our branch is part of the Community section of UNISON set up in June 2009. The Community sector held its first national conference on 2nd November 2010 in Telford followed by a delegate seminar in September 2011. The branch sent six delegates to the 2012 conference held Saturday 3rd March to Sunday 4th March in Brighton. Delegates report

UNISON holds its national delegate conference each year in June. The branch sends four delegates, these are elected at the AGM. We are particularly keen to include young members and members working in lower paid jobs. We are looking for a low paid women member to attend this year's conference as unfortunately our delegate is unable to attend.
We aim to send delegates to all the self-organised group conferences, if you are interested get in touch.
